'Argentina hasn't responded invitation to resume negotiations'

19/02/2015 |
Special Master Daniel Pollack has said the government has not yet responded to an offer to resume bond talks.

Daniel Pollack, the Special Master appointed by US District Judge Judge Thomas P. Griesa to conduct and preside over settlement negotiations between the Republic of Argentina and its bondholders, has issued a statement saying the government has “neither accepted nor otherwise responded” to an invitation by bondholders to resume talks.

In the statement, that was released today, Pollack explains that NML Capital along with other bondholders suing the country over its defaulted bonds more than a decade ago, issued through him an invitation to the Cristina Fernández de Kirchner administration to have settlement talks re-started. Such invitacion would involve “any present payment of cash” and was transmitted to Cleary Gottlieb, the lawyer representing Buenos Aires, on January 30.

“The Government of Argentina has neither accepted nor otherwise responded to the invitation by the Bondholders," Pollack finally says in his statement.
