Demanding a 28.5 percent salary hike, customs workers have launched a 24-hour strike with union leaders already warning a new walkout should be expected for next week as well
Press Secretary of the SUPARA union Marcelo Bisurgi told reporters customs workers have not yet been granted with the wage rise of 28.5 percent that the rest of employees in the public sector have already received.
With customs under the scope of the AFIP tax bureau, Bisurgi said the office chief Ricardo Echegaray has made yet no official decision regarding the SUPARA demands.
In a statement, the union conducted by Carlos Sueiro said there will be minimum guard shifts in the country’s checkpoints.
The strike that began today at 12 am affects port operations and might complicate baggage control works at airports.
